IPL Photofacial Treatment in Glendale and Burbank
Your face is the most visible part of your body and is the single most important feature associated with your identity. Unfortunately, your face is also usually the first to suffer from the negative effects of aging, including age spots, large pores, uneven skin tone, and more. A series of IPL Photofacials can not only tighten and smooth your skin, but it can also remove unwanted pigmentation and blemishes – all at a relatively low cost and with limited recovery time. Skin Matrx provides the IPL treatment Burbank patients will always be impressed with.
What is an IPL Photofacial?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. An IPL Photofacial is a treatment using the scientifically-advanced IPL laser treatment to target defects and pigmentation in your face to restore a smooth, natural glow. The darker and damaged skin cells on your face absorb the laser and are destroyed, causing your body to flush them out and replace them with fresh, vibrant skin. IPL Photofacials can treat:
Sun spots
Age spots
Rosacea
Large pores
Uneven skin tone
Excessive redness
Dilated and broken blood vessels
Hyperpigmentation (any other dark blemishes on your skin)

Your treatment will begin with an application of a transparent cooling gel to your face, after which the laser will be run carefully and systematically over the targeted areas. The treatment usually takes from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on how much skin is being treated.
Most patients report the sensation of the laser to be similar to a rubber band snapping on their skin. At the end of the treatment, the gel will be removed, the area will be cleansed with a warm cloth, and a moisturizer with sunscreen will be applied. If there is any mild swelling, you might be given a cold pack to apply for five or ten minutes. You can apply a concealer or foundation immediately following treatment. IPL photofacials achieve the best results when performed in a series.
Results
The results of your IPL photofacial appear over time, with pigmented blemishes darkening and then flaking off within five to seven days. Depending on the goals you’ve set, you may need a series of up to five treatments spaced three to four weeks apart to achieve optimal results. The results are long-lasting, with hyperpigmented facial flaws gone for good.
Post-treatment recovery and care
There is no downtime associated with an IPL Photofacial and you can apply makeup immediately afterwards. We recommend avoiding sun exposure and using high-SPF sunscreen in the weeks following an IPL Photofacial to allow your skin to heal and rejuvenate.

IPL Photofacial FAQs
Pregnant women are not considered candidates for an IPL Photofacial, and we recommend waiting until your child is born before receiving most cosmetic treatments.
IPL Photofacials help your skin regenerate and rejuvenate naturally, so there is no increased risk of skin damage in the sun, although we do recommend using high-SPF sunscreen and avoiding excessive sun exposure to maintain your results.
